After nearly 18 years, Cover to Cover will be closing at
5.30pm Saturday 1st July FOR ONE MONTH.
The new owner, Tim Batcup will reopen in August!
A number of circumstances earlier this year led Sarah to make this sad but realistic decision.
The energy and enthusiasm needed to run a busy independent bookshop can be exciting and yet challenging. The constant competition from the internet continues to affect the High Street, and bookselling in particular. Also, following a dip in health at the start of the year, Sarah decided after 36 years working in the book trade, that it was now the right time to make the decision.
We have had wonderful times here selling books and gifts to many customers over such a long period. From Harry Potter late night openings, organising events with authors and artists such as Sir Peter Blake, Victoria Hislop, Helen Dunmore, Ann Cleeves, Kate Humble, Jackie Morris and even The Stig! Take a look at our gallery for some fab pics! If it is possible in the future, Sarah hopes to continue involvement in similar events.
Sarah has had great staff who have helped her enormously over the years. But it is our loyal and lovely customers who we are hugely grateful to. We have loved selling books to young and old, from near and far. We have loved recommending a new author. We have loved selling a child their first story book. We have loved creating enticing window displays. We have loved searching for that elusive old title you once cherished. We have loved supporting our local creative talented writers and illustrators.
WE HAVE LOVED IT ALL! THANK YOU
Our sale starts Monday 5th June, with 30% off original price for books and gifts, and cards 3 for £5!
